How To Wear Perfume
Using perfume effectively involves more than just spraying it on. Here are some tips on how to apply perfume to maximize its longevity and impact:
- 1. Apply to Pulse Points
Perfume lasts longer when applied to areas where your body emits heat. These spots include:
Wrists
Neck
Behind the ears
Inside elbows
Behind knees
Chest
- 2. Spray, Don’t Rub:
When applying perfume to your wrists, spray it and let it dry naturally. Rubbing it together can break down the fragrance’s structure, causing it to fade more quickly.
- 3. at a Distance:
Hold the bottle 5–7 inches (about 12–18 cm) away from your skin for an even, light application. Spraying too close can cause the scent to be too concentrated in one spot.
- 4. Apply After a Shower
Fragrance lasts longer on moisturized skin. Applying perfume after showering helps because your pores are open, and your skin is more hydrated, allowing the scent to be absorbed better.
- 5. Moisturize Before Applying
Dry skin tends to lose fragrance faster, so using an unscented lotion or body oil on your pulse points before applying perfume can help lock in the scent.
- 6. Avoid Over-Applying
One or two sprays is usually enough. Less is often more with perfume, especially if it’s a strong scent. You want people to catch a hint of your fragrance without being overwhelmed by it.
- 7. Reapply When Needed
Depending on the concentration of your perfume, you may need to reapply it after a few hours. Eau de parfum lasts longer than eau de toilette, for instance, but you can carry a travel-sized version for touch-ups if necessary.
In essence, handcrafted perfume doesn’t just enhance how someone smells—it elevates their overall image and presence.
